Steve Bird AKA Mr Bird is originally from Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK, but in 2009 decided to follow his heart, spread his wings and jumped ship and moved to sunny Lisbon in Portugal, still looking for that perfect beat…

Spending his formative years between playing guitar in bands, dancing in forests, recording vampire films onto a Tascam 4 tack cassette recorder and studying music technology and production, Steve has always been heavily into music. He released 2 albums on the Brighton based labels Frequent Sounds and Hertz Recordings, and on the strength of the 1st album was invited to record a session for John Peel at the BBC Maida Vale Studios in 2002.

Since moving to Lisbon and having the chance to get into music production full time, Steve has been remixing and collaborating with singers, producers and musicians worldwide and writing original music for TV, documentaries and theatre and DJ’ing at bars and clubs in Lisbon. Steve has always been into a wide variety of music, and this has been distilled over the years in to the Mr Bird sound, always an ear for a catchy melody with strong hooks, a mixed blend of soul, funk and hip hop beats.

Steve has started a third label called Fat Bird Sounds in the summer of 2012 and in 2013 had his third album ‘Bird bird bird’ released on the new Dublin based Vital Force label, and in the summer of 2014 the album “Low Fi Classics” with UK soul singer Greg Blackman was released by BBE Music.

Steve Bird, conhecido como Mr Bird, é de Newcastle upon Tyne, no Reino Unido, mas em 2009 decidiu seguir seu coração, abrir suas asas, largar seu estilo de vida e se mudou para a ensolarada Lisboa, em Portugal, ainda procurando pela batida perfeita…

Gastando seus anos anteriores tocando guitarra em bandas, dançando em florestas, gravando filmes de vampiros em um gravador de cassete de 4 faixas Tascame, estudando tecnologia musical e produção, Steve sempre gostou muito de música. Ele lançou 2 álbuns com as gravadoras Frequent Sounds e Hertz Recordings, de Brighton, e com a força do primeiro álbum, foi convidado a gravar uma sessão para John Peel no BBC Maida Vale Studios, em 2002.

Desde que se mudou para Lisboa e teve a chance de entrar para a produção musical full time, Steve tem remixado e colaborado com cantores, produtores e músicos ao redor do mundo e escrito músicas originais para a TV, documentários e teatro, além de trabalhar como DJ em bares e clubes em Lisboa. Steve sempre gostou de vários tipos de música, e isso foi destilado ao longo dos anos nos sons do Mr Bird, sempre um ouvido para melodias envolventes com ganchos fortes, uma mistura de batidas do soul, funk e hip hop.

Steve começou uma terceira marca chamada Fat Bird Sounds no verão de 2012, e em 2013, teve seu terceiro álbum, ‘Bird Bird Bird’, lançado com a marca Vital Force, em Dublin. No verão de 2013, o álbum “Low Fi Classics” foi lançado com o cantor britânico de soul Greg Blackman pela BBE Music.
